Camp Guyasuta Gets Help from Tartan Football Players
Members of the Carnegie Mellon University football program spent
time at Camp Guyasuta on Saturday, April 6, as part of the
campus-wide community service day 1000Plus. Camp Guyasuta is
owned and operated by the Laurel Highlands Council - Boy Scouts of
America and located in Aspinwall, Pa.
Throughout the day, the team spent their time moving and splitting
logs, while placing them at different sites around the camp
ground. They also removed the pool cover and did general
maintenance around the pool area.
“The time and effort that the football team has put into the
1000+ program over the past several years and this year is
tremendous," head coach Rich Lackner said. "I am proud of the
commitment our players have made to the community.”
The student-athletes’ service was part of a larger Carnegie
Mellon initiative called 1000plus, which brings together students,
faculty, staff and alumni to volunteer at multiple sites throughout
the greater Pittsburgh area.
