Sports Performance Facilities

Carnegie Mellon University Athletics has two fully operational athletic training rooms and a dedicated varsity athlete weight training facility.

The Highmark Center for Health, Wellness and Athletics is home to a 2,000 sq. ft. sports medicine facility which is connected to the varsity weight room on the first floor. The sports medicine facility is equiped with modalities such as laser and ultraviolet light therapy, a boost treadmill (anti-gravity), and two Grimm whirlpools for hydrotherapy. The facility also holds staff offices, a rehabilitation area, and an exam room.

The Gesling Stadium Athletic Training Facility is an 1,800 sq. ft. sports medicine facility serving the football and track and field teams at Carnegie Mellon University. It is located adjacent to the football field between West Wing and Resnik Hall. The facility consists of a main treatment and rehabilitation area, a hydrotherapy room, staff office, physician’s clinic and storage areas.

Both athletic training facilities provide our varsity athletes full access to multiple treatment tables, taping units, an array of therapeutic modalities (heat, cold, whirlpools, electric stimulation, ultrasound, etc.) and rehabilitation equipment.

Varsity Weight Room

The varsity weight room is located in the Highmark Center for Health, Wellness and Athletics.

The weight room is located on the first floor of the building and is more than 5,000 square feet.

State of the art equipment by Sorinex featuring 12 racks and platforms, more than eight cable columns, full line of dumbbells and kettlebells, and Hawkin Dynamics force plates.

The space also includes a woodway treadmill for return to play, five TVs for displaying workouts and videos.
