#TartanProud

All of us at Carnegie Mellon University are proud to be a part of this great institution. The university is known for its leading research, rigorous academics, stellar arts and global impact, but as Tartans we are also equally proud of the athletic accomplishments and history of our NCAA teams.

This is an exciting time for the university, and we wanted to launch a campaign that captures the way we feel when we think about Carnegie Mellon. With that in mind, Carnegie Mellon Athletics has united around #TartanProud as a way to express our excitement, dedication and pride in our school.

There are so many different reasons to be #TartanProud:

• In technology, Carnegie Mellon has always been a leader in computer science. The university founded the first-ever robotics institute and one of our professors used the first-ever emoticon!

• Our professors and alumni are among the best in their pursuits and have received countless awards and recognitions in both the sciences and the arts, including: 19 Nobel prizes, 114 Emmys, 7 Academy Awards and 41 Tony Awards.

• The Tartans have won 30 UAA championships and 158 student-athletes have received Academic All-America honors. Two student-athletes were awarded Fulbright scholarships in 2015 and our student-body as a whole had a 3.33 GPA at one of the most academically demanding schools in the nation.

• Academically, Carnegie Mellon has top-ranked academic programs in computer science, business, engineering and art and athletically several of our programs are among the best in the nation and compete for national championships.

• We are proud of our over 100 years of storied football history (including wins against Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, NC State, Pitt and West Virginia) and we are proud of the meaningful contributions our student-athletes make through programs such as Team IMPACT and SAAC Field Day.
