Tartans Celebrate 73 Graduating Student-Athletes

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics celebrated the graduation of 73 student-athletes on Sunday, May 15 during the campus-wide ceremony held in Gesling Stadium. In total, more than 5,000 graduates were recognized over the weekend for the University’s 119th commencement.

The 73 student-athletes graduating have a stellar track record of academic success. The combined grade-point average of the student-athlete graduates is 3.523, six were initiated into Phi Beta Kappa and one student-athlete won a Churchill Scholarship.

Of the group, 28 will graduate with degrees from the College of Engineering, 20 from the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, 11 from the Mellon College of Science, eight from the Tepper School of Business, four from the School of Computer Science, one from the College of Fine Arts in Architecture and one with a cross discipline degree from the Science and Humanities Scholars Program.
