Two Named Athlete of the Week by ECAC

(DANBURY, Conn.) – Two Carnegie Mellon University athletes were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) when the organization announced its weekly award winners this week. Women's track and field senior Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) and freshman Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) from men's track and field were the award winners.

Sarah Cook - South Women's Track and Field Runner of the Week

Senior Sarah Cook earned three All-UAA honors in her final UAA Championships meet when she placed second in the 800-meter run and third in both the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay. Her time of 2:12.62 in the 800-meter run is a career best and is currently ninth nationally. The 4x400 meter relay team closed the meet with a school record time of 3:57.16 which is 28th nationally. The performances by Cook helped the Tartans secure fourth place at the meet, tying the program’s best finish, last set in 1998, at the UAA Outdoor Championships.

 

Bram Miller - South Men's Track and Field Rookie of the Week

Freshman Bram Miller of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field won two University Athletic Association (UAA) titles in helping the Tartans to a second-place team finish at the UAA Championships over the weekend. On Saturday, Miller won the shot put with a toss of 15.50 meters he then won the discus on Sunday with a school record mark of 49.05 meters. He currently ranks 14th nationally in the discus and 34th in the shot put.
