Football Heads to Nation’s Capital for Contest at Catholic University

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University football team will travel to Washington D.C. to take on the Catholic University Cardinals on Friday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m.

Friday will mark the third straight year the teams will meet on the gridiron after not playing since 1993. Two seasons ago, Catholic defeated the Tartans in come-from-behind fashion, 29-28, in our nation's capital and the Tartans got revenge with a 35-17 victory last season in Pittsburgh to push their series lead to 3-1.  In 1992, Carnegie Mellon defeated Catholic by the score of 28-12 in D.C. The following season, the Cardinals traveled to Pittsburgh where the Tartans won 55-0.  

Carnegie Mellon will enter the contest with a 1-1 record after dropping its opener at Grove City College 28-10 before defeating Allegheny College last week, 26-7.  Prior to its idle week, Catholic won 48-16 at McDaniel two weeks ago to
