(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University football team will open its 2015 campaign on Saturday, September 5 as it travels to St. Louis, Missouri, to play the Bears of Washington University.   Kick is slated for 12:00 p.m. CT at Francis Field on the campus of Washington U. In season openers, Carnegie Mellon has a 64-39-3 mark and has dropped its last two after winning 14 straight from 1999-2012.

When the teams collide Saturday, it will mark the 33rd meeting with the series knotted at 16 apiece. Last season, the Tartans snapped a four game skid to the Bears with a thrilling 17-16 victory in Pittsburgh to conclude the season.

The Tartans will once again be led by head coach Rich Lackner, who is entering his 30th season at the helm and currently ranks fifth among Division III active coaches with 188 victories.  The game also features another coach ranking in the top five of active winningest coaches in Division III.  Bears leader Larry Kindbom is tied with Lackner at 188 wins with 160 of them coming at Washington U.
