Fitzmorris Named UAA Football Defensive Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior safety Drew Fitzmorris (Omaha, Neb./Westside) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Defensive Athlete of the Week for his play against Westminster College this past Saturday night.

Fitzmorris turned in a career outing in the Tartans' 21-7 setback at Westminster. He led the defense with 18 tackles, including a career-best 13 solo, and a sack. The senior moved into fifth on the school's all-time tackle list with his showing Saturday and now has 231 for his career.

Carnegie Mellon is idle next week and will conclude its regular season on Saturday, November 11. The Tartans will entertain Case Western Reserve University in the 32nd Annual Academic Bowl at Gesling Stadium. Kick is set for 2:00 p.m.
