Hubbard Named PAC and UAA Offensive Player of the Week; Nguyen Honored by UAA

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Senior running back Rory Hubbard (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was recognized by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) as Offensive Player of the Week following his play in the Tartans' 41-7 win at Thiel College Saturday. Hubbard was also honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as Offensive Athlete of the Week while freshman placekicker Brandon Nguyen (Maitland, Fla./Lake Highland Preparatory) was named Special Teams Athlete of the Week for the UAA.

Hubbard recorded his second career 100-yard rushing game in Saturday's victory. The senior ran for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 20 carries for an average of 6.7 yards per carry, Hubbard also returned two kicks for 37 yards and added a catch for 16 yards.

Nguyen turned in a perfect performance at Thiel. He converted all five of his extra point attempts and added two field goals. The first from 34 yards and the second from 33 yards to close the scoring for the Tartans.

Carnegie Mellon will return to the gridiron on Saturday, October 27 when Geneva comes to Pittsburgh for a 1:00 p.m. kick.
