Lohmeier and Nguyen Named to D3football.com All-South Region Team

(MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.) – Senior defensive end Michael Lohmeier (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and sophomore placekicker Brandon Nguyen (Maitland, Fla./Lake Highland Preparatory) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team were named to the D3football.com 2019 All-South Region team. Both land a spot on the third-team, as they were selected in balloting by South Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff. This marks the sixth straight season the Tartans have had at least one player receive the accolade.

Lohmeier, a first team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) selection, led the PAC with a school record 22.5 tackles for a loss and tied for the team lead and ranked fifth in the PAC with 9.0 sacks. Lohmeier ranked second nationally in total tackles for a loss, eighth with 2.2 tackles for a loss per game, and was 46th in sacks. He was fourth on the team with 60 total tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered another for a touchdown this season. He ends his career ranked fourth all-time in program history with 20.0 sacks.

Nguyen, also a first team All-PAC honoree, was the team's leading scorer with 60 points, which ranked top in the PAC among kickers and eighth best overall. The placekicker converted 24-of-28 point-after-attempts and was 12-of-14 on field goals with a career-long of 49 yards coming in the Tartans' win over 20th-ranked Case Western Reserve.

Lohmeier and Nguyen are now eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 20, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLVII.
