Tartan Football Announces 2022 Incoming Class

Carnegie Mellon University first-year Head Football Coach Ryan Larsen has announced the Tartans 2022 recruiting class. The Tartans will welcome 36 newcomers that hail from 16 different states.
14 Carnegie Mellon Football Players Named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society

The Carnegie Mellon University football team had 14 student-athletes named to the 2022 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
45 Carnegie Mellon Football Players Recognized on PAC Academic Fall Honor Roll

The Carnegie Mellon University football team landed 45 members on the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2021 semester. Of the 45, 23 maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during the first semester.
Ryan Larsen Named Head Football Coach at Carnegie Mellon University

Following an extensive national search, Carnegie Mellon University has named Ryan Larsen as its new head football coach. A 13-year coaching veteran, Larsen comes to Carnegie Mellon from Columbia University, where he served as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator for the past three years. Larsen, who has achieved offensive success at every one of his coaching experiences, has also worked at Stevenson University, Rhodes College, Wabash College and Indiana University. He will officially begin his role as the new head coach on February 21.
Vasiliadis Named D3football.com All-American

Sophomore running back Tre Vasiliadis (Great Falls, Va./Langley) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was named a member of the 2021 D3football.com All-America team as announced Friday evening prior to the Stagg Bowl in Canton, Ohio. The sophomore was one of three Presidents’ Athletic Conference players honored and garnered fourth team accolades this season.
Knight Repeats as CoSIDA Academic All-America

Senior defensive back Sean Knight (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was honored with a first team selection to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Division III Football Team. This marks Knight’s second consecutive year receiving the accolade.
Vasiliadis, Pogorelc and Coury Named to 2021 D3football.com All-Region 2 Team

Lackner Named AFCA Division III Region 2 Coach of the Year

Carnegie Mellon University head football coach Rich Lackner has been named American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) 2021 Regional Coach of the Year for Region 2. This marks Lackner’s first honor by the AFCA in his 36 years at the helm.
Carnegie Mellon’s NCAA First Round Football Game at North Central Declared No Contest

Through the Carnegie Mellon University required weekly testing program for varsity athletes, we discovered that several members of the football team tested positive for COVID-19. To protect the health and welfare of all involved, the team has chosen to withdraw from the 2021 NCAA Division III Football Championship first round game against North Central College on Saturday, November 20. The game will be declared a no contest.
Eight Football Players Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

The Carnegie Mellon University football team had eight members named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football Team on Thursday. This marks the fourth straight season the Tartans have had at least eight receive the honor. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.
Football Lands 17 on All-PAC Team; Lackner Named PAC Coach of the Year

The Carnegie Mellon University football team had 17 players receive All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) distinction, announced by the conference office following voting by the league coaches on Tuesday. The Tartans place seven on the first team, five on the second team and four were named honorable mention with one honored to the sportsmanship team. In addition, 36-year head coach Rich Lackner was named PAC Coach of the Year.
Evert Named PAC Rookie Player of the Week

Carnegie Mellon University freshman Matthew Evert (Roswell, Ga./Milton), was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Rookie of the Week. Evert receives the honor following his play Saturday in the Tartans’ 24-6 win over Case Western Reserve University in the 35th Annual Academic Bowl.
Tartans Travel to North Central (Ill.) in NCAA First Round Matchup

The Carnegie Mellon University football team, the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) automatic qualifier to the 2021 NCAA Division III Football Championship, have been selected to play the nations top ranked team North Central (Ill.) College in the opening round. Kickoff against the Cardinals at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 20 in Naperville, Illinois.
Tartans PAC Co-Champions after Defeating Case Western Reserve University, 24-6 in 35th Annual Academic Bowl

The Carnegie Mellon University football team claimed a share of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship with a 24-6 victory over rival Case Western Reserve University in the 35th Annual Academic Bowl on Saturday. The Tartans share the title with Westminster, but claim the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III playoffs by way of the head-to-head result on October 9 when the Tartans won 34-10. It marks the first PAC Championship for the Tartans since 1989 and the first trip to the NCAAs since 2006.

Sophomore Thomas Coury (Phillipsburg N.J./Phillipsburg) was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Defensive Player of the Week, junior punter Casey Jaeb (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine Prep) was named PAC Special Teams Player of the Week and sophomore Robert Coury (Phillipsburg N.J./Phillipsburg) landed a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week.
