Coyne and Jaeb Receive PAC Weekly Honors; Coyne Recognized Nationally

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University seniors Ben Coyne (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) and Casey Jaeb (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine College Preparatory) have been recognized for their play in the now 17th-ranked Tartans' 40-33 win of Grove City College to open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play. Coyne was named PAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week while Jaeb was named PAC Special Teams Player of the Week. Coyne also landed a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Coyne turned in a career day in the win. He finished with a career-high nine tackles (5 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. The senior also nabbed his first career interception early in the first quarter, which led to a Hayden Hairston 22-yard field goal to give the Tartans a 10-0 lead. Coyne is currently tied with Endicott's Hector Johnson for the Division III lead in total sacks (6.0).

Jaeb averaged 41.5 yards per punt on six punts Saturday afternoon. He dropped two inside the Wolverines 20-yard line and had a long of 48 yards. Grove City's average starting field position was its own 23-yard line. Jaeb's 38.2 yards per punt average this season ranks second in the PAC and 40th in Division III.

Carnegie Mellon will travel to Thiel College on Saturday, September 24. Kick is slated for 3:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
