Bio

Zach Richert enters his fourth season on the Carnegie Mellon staff coaching the linebackers.

Prior to his arrival at Carnegie Mellon, Richert served as the defensive coordinator for the Cottbus Crayfish of the German Football League (GFL 3) for a season. Richert was a graduate assistant coach for Duquesne University in 2013 after playing for the Dukes from 2009-12.

In Richert’s four years as a linebacker for the Dukes, he played in 43 games with 7.0 career sacks as a third down specialist and special teams standout. Richert was also a two-year captain. He capped his career as one of 55 players who participated in the Miami Dolphins three-day rookie mini-camp in May of 2013.

Richert, who was named to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team twice, was Duquesne’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 2012-13 and graduated from Duquesne with a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education before receiving his master’s degree in sports leadership from Duquesne in 2014.
     
Richert and his wife, Elisabeth, reside in Bellevue with their daughter Marley.
