Cordts Named UAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – For the second time this season, Carnegie Mellon University senior Seth Cordts (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.  Cordts receives the honor following a 2-0 week for the Tartans, including a victory over the 12th-ranked Bears of Washington University.

In Friday's 72-59 victory over the Bears, Cordts poured in 22 points while converting 14-of-14 from the foul line and hauled down seven rebounds.  The senior followed Friday's performance scoring 28 points on 10-of-16 from the floor and recorded eight rebounds in the Tartans' 73-48 win over Chicago. In the two games, Cordts was a perfect 18-of-18 from the charity stripe and averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Carnegie Mellon will travel to Brandeis University on Friday, February 13 for an 8:00 p.m. tip against the Judges.  Earlier this season, the Tartans defeated the Judges 61-56 in Pittsburgh and will look to sweep the season series for the fifth time and first-time since the 2005-06 season.
