Serbin Named to the ECAC Division III South Men’s Basketball All-Star Team

(DANBURY, Conn.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Jack Serbin (New Albany, Ohio) was named to the ECAC Division III Men's South Basketball All-Star Second Team.  The postseason honor is the second for Serbin as he was named to the University Athletic Association (UAA) Second Team.

Serbin led the UAA with 73 blocked shots, 14 double-doubles and 7.9 defensive rebounds per contest.  Nationally, he ended the year ranked fifth, 10th and 11th in each respective category. Serbin became the school's single-season leader in blocks after ending the year with 73 including a career-best seven against Penn State Beaver. For the year, he averaged a double-double with 17.8 points and 10.0 rebounds, becoming the first Tartan to do so since Jon Blanciak averaged 14.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in the 1994-95 season.

In 24 of the 25 games he played, the 6-foot-9-inch sophomore recorded double figures while recording 20 or more in eight, including a career-high 31 points at New York University.  The sophomore also grabbed a career-best 20 rebounds against Heidelberg University earlier in the season.

Serbin is the first Tartan since Ryan Einwag (2008-09) to garner postseason ECAC honors.
