Henry Scores Career-High 32 in Tartans 80-68 Win Over King's

(WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team opened play at the Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament hosted by Lycoming College and junior Seth Henry's (Fulton, Md./Reservoir) career-high 32 points led the Tartans to an 80-68 win over King's College on Friday night in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Tartans move to 4-5 while the Monarchs are now 4-6.

Henry added 11 rebounds to go with his 32 points to record his second double-double this season and fourth of his career. Sophomore Zach Howarth (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vianney) added 10 points in the win. Sophomore Trent Suddeth (Winter Park, Fla./Trinity Prep) led all players with a career-high 14 rebounds. The sophomore added seven points while classmate Colin McNeil (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) recorded nine points and dished out a career-best eight assists.

Carnegie Mellon shot 57.6% (19-33) from the floor in the second half and finished the game shooting 47.0% (31-66). It marked the fourth time this season the Tartans shot over 45.0% from the floor as they are 3-1 when doing so. King's ended the game shooting 33.8% (22-65). The Monarchs were led by Connor Callejas with 25 points. Chris Fazzini added 10 in the setback for King's.

The first half saw the lead change hands nine times with the score tied also on nine occasions. Six minutes into play a pair of foul shots by Howarth gave Carnegie Mellon an early 9-5 advantage. King's then used a 13-3 run over the next 4:31 to take an 18-12 lead with 9:29 to play in the first half. Carnegie Mellon answered with a 10-2 run, as Henry scored eight of his 16 first-half points during the stretch to give the Tartans a 22-20 lead.

Over the next minute, five free throws by the Monarchs' Noah Tanner gave the lead back to King's at 25-22, but a trey by sophomore Cooper Williams (Meriden, N.H./Kimball Union Academy) knotted the score at 25-25 with just under five minutes to play. The remainder of the half was back-and-forth. A traditional three-point play by Joshua Bailey with 32 ticks left gave King's a 35-32 edge, but Henry closed the half with a jumper to cut the Tartans deficit to 35-34 at the break.

A layup by McNeil six minutes into the second half gave the Tartans a 43-42 lead and the Cardinal and Gray never trailed the rest of the way. A put-back layup by Suddeth with 8:39 to play gave the Tartans their first double-digit lead at 60-50. Carnegie Mellon led by as many as 18 and went on for the 12-point win.

Carnegie Mellon will play the ninth-ranked host Warriors at 3:00 p.m. in the championship game of the Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
