Men’s Basketball Earns 10th Straight Team Academic Honors by NABC; Six Individuals Honored

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) when the committee on academics announced the annual Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2021-22. The Tartans are one of seven schools across all divisions that have achieved the honor each of the 10 seasons it has existed.
Holmes Named ECAC Division III Men’s Basketball All-Star

Sophomore R.J. Holmes (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai Stevenson) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team was honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) on Wednesday afternoon as a second-team selection on the 2022 Division III Men's Basketball All-ECAC Team. The sophomore received the award after earning University Athletic Association (UAA) Sophomore Rookie of the Year as well as landing a spot on the Association Second Team.
Holmes Named UAA Sophomore Rookie of the Year and Garners Second Team Accolades

Sophomore R.J. Holmes (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai Stevenson) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men’s Basketball Sophomore Rookie of the Year as well as landing a spot on the Association Second Team. Due to the UAA season being canceled last year, the league awarded both a freshman and sophomore rookie of the year for the 2021-22 season.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team hosted Brandeis University for a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest on Wednesday and dropped a 66-44 contest. The Cardinal and Gray move to 11-12 overall and 4-9 in UAA play while Brandeis is now 13-9, 4-7.
Tartans Take #18 Emory to Overtime in 87-86 Heartbreaking Loss

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday to play the Eagles of Emory University. The Tartans took the 18th-ranked team in the nation to overtime before dropping a heartbreaking 87-86 University Athletic Association (UAA) contest. The overtime loss marks the second for the Tartans to a ranked opponent this season, as they are now 11-11 overall and 4-8 in UAA play. Emory improves to 18-5, 11-2.
Tartans Stumble at Rochester

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team continued University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Friday with a road contest in Rochester, New York against the Yellowjackets of the University of Rochester. The Tartans dropped a 69-46 contest and are now 11-10 overall and 4-7 in the UAA while the Yellowjackets move to 15-7 and 7-5.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team hosted New York University for a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest on Sunday, February 13. The Tartans had a tough shooting day and fell to the Violets, 77-51, to move to 11-9 overall with four games left on the schedule.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team snapped a two-game skid with a 78-72 win Friday night against visiting Brandeis University. The Tartans are now 11-8 for the season and 4-5 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play.
Tartans Lose Thriller in Overtime at #8 WashU, 65-63

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team traveled to No. 8 Washington University in St. Louis Monday and outscored the Bears in the second half to force the second overtime game between the teams this season. In overtime the lead changed four times before WashU came away with a 65-63 win in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The Tartans are now 10-8 overall and 3-5 in UAA play while the Bears move to 16-3, 6-2.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team traveled to the Windy City on Sunday afternoon and dropped a 78-49 contest to the Maroons of the University of Chicago in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The Tartans are now 10-7 overall and 3-4 in UAA play while the Maroons move to 7-12, 2-6.
Holmes Earns Third UAA Athlete of the Week Accolade

For the third time this season, sophomore R.J. Holmes (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai Stevenson) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week. Holmes helped the Tartans to a pair of wins last week including an upset victory over third-ranked Washington University on St. Louis.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team won its second straight University Athletic Association (UAA) game by defeating the University of Chicago on Sunday afternoon by a 65-57 score. The Tartans are now 10-6 overall and 3-3 in the UAA while the Maroons move to 6-11 and 1-5.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team topped third-ranked Washington University in St Louis at home on Friday, 71-68, in overtime after leading for all but 44 seconds of regulation. The Tartans are now 9-6 overall and 2-3 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Bears fall for the second time this season and are 14-2 and 4-1.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team dropped a home University Athletic Association (UAA) contest to the University of Rochester, 71-60, on Friday evening in Wiegand Gymnasium. The Tartans are now 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the UAA while the Yellowjackets improve to 10-4 and 2-2.
