Tartans Place Fourth at 39th Annual Guy W. Kuhn Invitational

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the second round of the two-day annual Guy W. Kuhn Invitational hosted at The Country Club of Meadville by Allegheny College.  After carding a team round of 299 Sunday, the Tartans fired a team score of 306 on Monday for a 36-hole score of 605 placing fourth in the field of 15 teams.

Point Park University claimed top honors carding a 36-hole team score of 597. The host Allegheny College finished one stroke back with a 298 followed by Roberts Wesleyan a stroke back of them with a 599.  The Tartans placed fourth and University of Rochester and St. Vincent College tied for fifth with a 610.  

Junior Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) fired even par 144 (71-73) for the 36-hole event to place second.  Freshman Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) tied for 17th after carding rounds of 72 and 80 for a 152 followed by sophomore Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) who finished with a 154 (75-79) to place 25th.

After carding an 81 in the opening round, junior Grant Strimel (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) improved seven stroke Monday afternoon to end the invite with a 155.  Sophomore Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) rounded out the Tartans with a 166 (82-84).

The Tartans return to the links September 29-30, as they compete at the California (Pa.) Vulcan Invitational at the Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, Pa.
