Bangor Tied for Lead After Day One of Edward Jones Shootout

(APOLLO, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team hosted the first day of the annual Edward Jones Shootout Saturday, April 13 at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pa.  Following the first round, the Tartans are in fourth-place after they fired a team score of 312 on the par-70 course.

Point Park leads the field after scoring a round of 305 followed by St. Vincent with a 308 and  Allegheny with a 309.   Carnegie Mellon junior Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) along with Austin Elder from Point Park are tied for the individual lead after Saturday's round shooting a four-over par 74.  
    
Sophomore Derek Cobb (Urbana, Ohio) and freshman Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) both carded rounds of 79.  Junior Grant Strimel (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) entered the clubhouse with an 80 while sophomore Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) fired an 81.

There were six individuals that entered the invitational for the Tartans.  Senior Jisoo Park (Dix Hills, N.Y./Pendleton School) leads the core of individuals with a 77, as junior Matt Wilson (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) and sophomore Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) are two strokes back of Park after each carded a 79.  Sophomore Austin Cheng (Chester, N.J./Phillips Exeter Academy) fired an 82, junior Alexander Fry (Grand Island, N.Y.) shot an 87 and freshman Brian Chren (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./The Pendleton School) ended the day with an 88.

Round two continues Sunday, April 14 with a shotgun start set for 8:30 a.m.
