DuCarme Leads Tartans to First-Place Finish at Guy Kuhn Invitational

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the final round of the two-day, 36-hole annual Guy W. Kuhn Invitational hosted at the par 72 The Country Club of Meadville by Allegheny College.  The Tartans maintained their three-stroke lead following the first 18 holes to win the team championship with a score of 603.  

Fellow University Athletic Association foe, University of Rochester, placed second with a 606 in the field of 16 teams.  Following the Yellowjackets were the host Gators with a 307.

The Tartans were paced by sophomore Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) as he ended the invitational with carding a four-over par 148 (73-75), tying him for second as an individual. Senior Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) improved three strokes on Monday to finish a stroke back of DuCarme with a 149 (76-73).

Freshman George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) carded a 153 (75-78) while freshman Ryan Karbowicz (Avon, Conn.) ended the event with a 161 (76-85).  Junior Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) improved 11 strokes from his opening round play to end the invitational with a 165 (88-77).

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as freshman Alex Woodward (Aurora, Ontario) finished with a 157 (79-78).

The Tartans will hit the links again on September 29-30 at the Mercyhurst Invitational being played at Lake View Country Club in Erie, Pennsylvania.
