Tartans Place Sixth at The Hershey Cup

(HERSHEY, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the final round of The Hershey Cup on Monday, April 7 and finished with a 36-hole total of 632 (313-319) to place sixth out of 15 teams.  The two-day event hosted by the University of Rochester was played on the par-71, East Course at Hershey Country Club.

McDaniel College entered the clubhouse with rounds of 306 and 300 to take home first place with a 606.  The individual medalist was Alex Kane of McDaniel, who carded a two-round score of one-over par 143 (73-70).

Senior Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) led the Tartans with a 156 after carding back-to-back rounds of 78 on Sunday and Monday, respectively.  Freshman George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) was one-stroke behind Bangor with a 157 (76-81).

Freshman Alex Woodward (Aurora, Ontario) fired a 79 on Monday to end the cup with a 159.  Junior Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) and sophomore Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) both record a 163.  Low shot rounds of 82-81 while DuCarme posted rounds of 79-84.

The Tartans return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13 as they host the Annual Edward Jones Shootout.  The two-day event will be held at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pa.
