Tartans in Second After Day One of Edward Jones Shootout

(APOLLO, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team hosted the first day of the annual Edward Jones Shootout Saturday, April 12 at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pa.  The Tartans are currently in second-place after play on Saturday, as they fired a team score of 298 on the par-70 course.

Allegheny leads the field after scoring a round of 289 followed by the Tartans and Washington & Jefferson and St. Vincent with a 300.   Oliver White from Allegheny is the individual leader after Saturday's round shooting a one-under par 69.  

Carnegie Mellon was led by junior Cameron Low's (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) three-over par 73 on Saturday. Senior Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy), sophomore Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and freshman George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) each finished the first 18 holes of play carding a 75. Freshman Bradley Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Sutherland) rounded out the Tartans with an 83.

The Tartans entered a 'B' Team into the Shootout, while all members will be listed as individuals, the team fired a score of 307.  Leading the charge was freshman Ryan Karbowicz (Avon, Conn.) with a two-over par 72.  Junior Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) carded a 77 while senior Jisoo Park (Dix Hills, N.Y./Pendleton School) and freshman Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) turned in rounds of 79. Junior Derek Cobb (Urbana, Ohio) entered the clubhouse with an 86.    

Round two continues Sunday, April 14 with a shotgun start set for 8:30 a.m.
