Tartans Sit Third After First Round of Hal Hansen Invitational

(CLARION, PA.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the Hal Hansen Invitational Sunday afternoon and are currently in third-place following the first 18 holes of the invitational.  The 36-hole event is being held at the par 72 Clarion Oaks Golf Club by Clarion University.  On Sunday, the Tartans fired a 298 leaving them one-stroke back of California (Pa.) and four behind the team leader Mercyhurst.

The Tartans were led by senior Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) who carded even-par on Sunday afternoon.  Senior Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) and sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) both entered the clubhouse with a three-over par 75.  Sophomore Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) fired a 76 while newcomer Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) shot a 78 in his first collegiate round.

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as sophomore Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Sutherland) had a round of 78.

Day two continues Monday, September 8 with tee times starting at 9:00 a.m.
