Men’s Golf Tied for Fifth Following First Round of Hershey Cup

(HERSHEY, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team currently is tied for fifth-place at the 15-team Hershey Cup following the first round of play in the 36-hole tournament.  On Sunday, the Tartans fired a team score of 318 on the par-71, East Course at Hershey Country Club. The two-day event is being hosted by the University of Rochester.

Sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) entered the clubhouse Sunday with a three-over par 74 to lead the Tartans.  Qian is tied for second individually heading into Monday's round and sits only one-stroke back of the leader.

Sophomore Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) carded an opening round score of 77. Senior Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) and sophomore Alexander Pomerantz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) had rounds of 81 and 86.  Senior Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) was forced to withdraw from the opening round on Sunday due to illness.

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as freshman Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) had a round of 82.
