Men’s Golf Hosts Annual Spring Invitational

(VERONA, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team hosted its annual spring invitational on Tuesday, April 14 and carded a 305 to place fifth as a team.  The 18-hole event was held at the Longue Vue Club. Brian Giesler from Grove City was the individual medalist shooting a one-under par 69.  

Sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) carded a 72 to lead the Tartans. Seniors Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) and Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) entered the clubhouse with a one-stroke differential.  Fischler shot a 77 and Low tabbed a 78.  Sophomore Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) tied Low with a 78 while freshman Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) shot an 80.

The Tartans entered a 'B' Team into the Shootout, while all members will be listed as individuals, the team fired a score of 314.  Freshman Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) led the charge with career-best round of two-over par 72.  Sophomore Alex Woodward (Aurora, Ontario) carded a 76, as fellow sophomore Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Sutherland) finished with a 79.  Freshman John Shlonsky (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and sophomore Alexander Pomerantz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) ended Tuesday's play with an 87 and 89, respectively.

Two other individuals competed for the Tartans, as sophomore Ryan Karbowicz (Avon, Conn.) shot a 78 and junior Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) had an 81.

Carnegie Mellon will finish its season April 19-20 at the Mercyhurst Spring Invitational held at Lake View Country Club in Northeast, Pennsylvania.
