Qian Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar

Junior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been named a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). This marks the fourth straight year that Carnegie Mellon has had a golfer named a scholar, as Qian becomes the 19th Tartan to receive the honor.

For the second straight season, junior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been recognized on the NCAA Division III PING All-America honorable mention team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Qian becomes the program’s first two-time All-American honoree.

Carnegie Mellon University junior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy), a member of the men’s golf team, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.

Three Carnegie Mellon University men’s golfers have been recognized for their play on the course his past season by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Juniors George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) and Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Sutherland) along with sophomore Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) were named to the 2016 PING Mid-Atlantic Region team. The honor comes days after all three were named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) team.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team had three athletes honored by the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) coaches on the All-UAA team when the team was announced May 9. Heading the list was junior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) who was a first-team honoree. Junior Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Sutherland) found a spot on the second team and sophomore Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) garnered honorable mention status.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team finished the Kravetz Invitational, hosted by the University of Rochester, on Saturday, April 16 in second place behind Franklin & Marshall College, after shooting a two-day total of 625. The Tartans shot 305 at the par-72 Oak Hill Country Club after carding a 320 on Friday at the par-71 Irondequoit Country Club.

After the first day of the Fred Kravetz Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester, the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team is tied for third after 18-holes. The Cardinal and Gray fired a team score of 320, trailing Franklin & Marshall College by four strokes and Roberts Wesleyan College by three. Play began for the 36-hole tournament Friday at the par-72 Irondequoit Country Club with Saturday's round being played at the par-71 Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York.

Junior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Golf Athlete of the Week following his performance in helping the Tartans win their third straight tournament. The Tartans won the weather shortened Edward Jones Shootout with a school record team round of 282.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team hosted the its annual Edward Jones Shootout Sunday, April 10 at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania. The Tartans entered two teams into the Shootout with the 'B' squad appearing as individuals on the official results. The Tartans won the event after firing a school record round of 282 on the par-70 course while the ‘B’ team carded a 296 and finished in fifth-place.

The opening round of the men’s golf Edward Jones Shootout Saturday, April 9, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University has been postponed due to inclement temperatures and weather in the area. The 36-hole event is being played at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania. Play is scheduled to resume Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.

The 18-hole event was held at the Longue Vue Club. Top individual medalist honors went to Tartan junior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy).

For the second consecutive season, a Carnegie Mellon University men’s golfer was crowned the top individual medalist at the 15-team Hershey Cup. Junior Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) carded a round of 75 during the final round on Monday to finish the 36-hole tournament with a five-over par 147 (72-75) to win the event. The two-day tournament was held on the par-71 East Course at Hershey Country Club where the Tartans finished with a team score of 624 (309-315) to finish first.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team currently leads the field at the 15-team Hershey Cup following the first round of play. On Sunday, the Tartans fired a team score of 309 on the par-71, East Course at Hershey Country Club. The two-day, 36-hole event is being hosted by the University of Rochester.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team finished play at the 17th Annual Jekyll Island Collegiate Sunday, March 20. The Tartans ended the 54-hole tournament tied for 16th after carding a school-record score of 888 (299-293-296) over the three rounds. The field was comprised of 30 teams which had 13 of the nation's top 25 teams in Division III and included five of the top seven. The three-day event was held on the 6,700-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island.
