Qian Cards One-Under Par 69 to lead Men’s Golf at Annual Fall Invitational

(VERONA, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team placed first at its annual fall invitational Wednesday, September 28 after carding a 295. The 18-hole event was held at the Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pennsylvania. Top individual medalist honors went to Tartan senior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) who fired a one-under par 69. Qian's 69 is the lowest round of his career at Longue Vue.

Junior Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) carded a 73 followed by sophomore Patrick Tan's (Vancouver, British Columbia/Prince of Wales Secondary) 76. Senior Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./ Pittsford Sutherland) shot a 77 while junior Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) finished with an 83.

The Tartans entered a 'B' Team into the invitational, while all members will be listed as individuals in the results, the team fired a score of 307 and placed fourth. Senior Alexander Pomerantz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) carded a 75 to lead the 'B' squad, as senior Alex Woodward (Aurora, Ontario) and sophomore Adrian Berger (Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) both turned in rounds of  77. Sophomores Nicholas Moreno (Hawthorne, Calif./Windward School) and Austin Lin (Los Gatos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) each ended the day with a round of 79.

One other individual competed for the Tartans, senior Ryan Karbowicz (Avon, Conn.) carded a career-best round of even par 70.

The Tartans return to action on Monday and Tuesday, October 3-4 as play in the Oglethorpe Royal Lakes Invitational. The 36-hole tournament is being held at the Royal Lakes Golf Club in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
