Men’s Golf Competes in First Day of TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate

(BEAUFORT, S.C.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the first day of the TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Monday, March 13.  The two-day, 54-hole event is being held on the Cotton Dike Course at the Dataw Island Club in Beaufort, S.C. with 36 holes being played on Monday.

Carnegie Mellon is in third place following the first 36 holes of play with a 618 after firing rounds of 300 and 318 on the par-72, 6,789-yard course. Indian Hills Community College leads the field of 13 teams after carding back-to-back rounds of 292 for a 584.
    
Junior Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) opened the day with a one-over par 73 before carding a 77 in the final round of the day on Monday. The junior currently leads the Tartans with a 150 and is in ninth-place in a field of 86 golfers. Senior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) shot rounds of 74 and 78 for a 152.

Sophomore Adrian Berger (Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) shot a career-best round of 75 to start the event and followed with an 82 to card a 157 over the first 36 holes. Senior Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./ Pittsford Sutherland) shot a 161 (79-82) and junior Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) rounded out the Tartans scoring with a 164 (77-87).
    
The Tartans had two individuals enter the tournament, as senior Alexander Pomerantz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) shot an 84 and 83 to finish with a 167 while senior Ryan Karbowicz (Avon, Conn.) carded rounds of 88 and 98 for a 186.

Play is set to resume Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
