Men’s Golf Ties for Second at TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate

(BEAUFORT, S.C.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the final day of the 54-hole TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Tuesday, March 14.  The two-day event was held on the Cotton Dike Course at the Dataw Island Club in Beaufort, S.C. with 36 holes being played on Monday.

Carnegie Mellon finished the 13-team event tied for second place with Hampden-Sydney College after carding a 932 (300-318-314) on the par-72, 6,789-yard course. Indian Hills Community College won the tournament after carding an 890 (292-292-306).

On Tuesday afternoon, senior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) carded his second two-over par 74 round for the intercollegiate to lead the Tartans with a 54-hole score of 226 (74-78-74). Junior Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) finished the event with a 236 (73-77-86) and sophomore Adrian Berger (Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) ended with a 239 (75-82-82).

Senior Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./ Pittsford Sutherland) carded a 241 (79-82-80) while junior Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) was one stroke behind Jennette with a 242 (77-87-78).
    
The Tartans had two individuals enter the tournament with senior Alexander Pomerantz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) leading the way with a 251 (84-83-84) while senior Ryan Karbowicz (Avon, Conn.) withdrew from the intercollegiate after eight holes in the third round of play, as he carded rounds of 88 and 98 on Monday.

The Tartans will next compete at the three-day Jekyll Island Invitational at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia, beginning Friday, March 17.
