Men’s Golf Competes in Opening Round of Jekyll Island Collegiate

(JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the first round of the 18th Annual Jekyll Collegiate Invitational played on Friday, March 17. A frost delay pushed tee times back two hours which did not allow for the completion of the round on Friday. The field is comprised of 29 teams which has 15 of the nation's top 25 teams in Division III including three of the top five. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held on the 6,700-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island.

Two Tartans were able to finish the first round play, as sophomore Patrick Tan (Vancouver, British Columbia/Prince of Wales Secondary) carded a 78 and senior Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./ Pittsford Sutherland) ended with an 81.

Senior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) currently has played 14 holes and sits at one-under par. Junior Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School), who recorded a hole-in-one on the 201-yard par-3 14th hole, has played 16 holes and is plus-six. Junior Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) is plus-10 through 17 holes.

Play will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday with the conclusion of round one followed by the play of round two.
