Men’s Golf Hosts Annual Carnegie Mellon Fall Shootout

(APOLLO, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team hosted the 36-hole Carnegie Mellon Fall Shootout on Saturday and Sunday at The Links at Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania. Carnegie Mellon enter a' B' and 'C' Team into the shootout, as the Tartans will compete at the 2018 NCAA Division III Preview on Monday and Tuesday at Keene Trace Golf Club in Lexington, Kentucky.

The 'B' Team placed fourth in the field of 14 teams with a 570 (286-284) with the 'C' Team placing 13th with a 625 (311-314).

The 'B' Team was led by freshman James Pak (Palisades Park, N.J./Bergen Catholic) with a 141 after carding rounds of one-over par 71 and even par 70. Sophomore Jay Milch (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) shot one-over par 71 Sunday to finish with a 143 (72-71). Freshman Henry Scavone (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm)ended play with a 36-hole score of 144 (70-74).

Senior Austin Lin (Los Gatos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) and sophomore Ben Huber (Hampton, Pa.) both shot a 145 and had a career-low round on Sunday. Lin carded rounds of 73 and 72 while Huber had rounds of 74 and 71.

The 'C' Team was led by sophomore Aaron Silverstein (Fairfax, Calif./Sir Francis Drake) with a 152 (73-79). Sophomore David Wang (Shanghai, China/Shanghai American School) shot a 155 (75-80), senior Adrian Berger (Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) carded a 157 (79-78), sophomore Aryan Chordia (Dubai, UAE/Jumeriah College) a 162 (84-78) and sophomore Trevor Arashiro (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani) ended with a 170 (91-79).

Three other Tartans competed as individuals with senior Nicholas Moreno (Hawthorne, Calif./Windward School) shooting back-to-back rounds of 77 to finish with a 154 and sophomore Jesse Keck (Germantown, Tenn./Houston) carded a 160 (82-78) while freshman Christopher Young (Irvine, Calif.) opened play with a 79 before withdrawing prior to round two.
