Tartans Finish Tied for Second at The Hershey Cup

(HERSHEY, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team ended play at the final round of The Hershey Cup on Monday and carded a 36-hole of 610 (301-309) to tie for second out of 15 teams. The two-day event was hosted by the University of Rochester and played on the par-71, East Course at Hershey Country Club.

Wittenberg University posted rounds of 295 and 297 to win the event with a 592. The individual medalist was Stephen Nicholas of Franklin & Marshall, who carded rounds of 71 and 74 for a 145.

Sophomore Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) led the Tartans and tied for ninth individually in a field of 84 golfers after carding a 150 (76-74). Sophomore Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) sat one-stroke behind his classmate with a 151 (77-74) and tied for 11th.

Senior Austin Lin (Los Gatos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) finished the 36-hole event with a 157 (76-81). Freshman William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) carded a 158 (72-86) while sophomore Jay Milch (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) ended the cup with a 167 (87-80).

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as freshman Henry Scavone (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm) finished with a 161 (79-82).

The Tartans will be idle until April 27 when they open play at the Strimer Memorial Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at the Oakhaven Golf Club.
