Scavone Cards School Record 67 at Opening Round of Strimer Memorial Invitational

(DELAWARE, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team opened play on Saturday at the Strimer Memorial Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on the par-71 Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio. Freshman Henry Scavone (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm), who entered the event as an individual, carded a four-under par 67 which ties the school record for the lowest round in program history. The Tartans as a team carded a score of 300 in the opening 18 holes of play.

Sophomore Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) led the Tartans team scoring with a two-over par 73. Senior Austin Lin (Los Gatos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) finished play Saturday a stroke behind Li with a 74.

Sophomore Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) shot a 76 followed by freshman William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) with a 77 and freshman Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell) with an 80.

The second round begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday with a shotgun start.
