14 Carnegie Mellon Athletes Named to the 12th Annual UAA Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University had 14 student-athletes named to the 12th Annual University Athletic Association (UAA) Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced be the league’s office on Wednesday. The 14 Tartans, three men’s cross country, two football, men’s golf, women’s golf, softball, men’s tennis and one women’s tennis, received the prestigious honor along with 142 other student-athletes representing all eight UAA member institutions.

The 2019-20 Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team was one of 38 NCAA Division III institutions who received the All-Academic Team award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Tartans finished the year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.27, as it marked the ninth straight season the Cardinal and Gray have received the accolade.

Four members of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team have been named a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Juniors Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) and Jay Milch (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) along with sophomore William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) were all recognized for their play on the course and in the classroom.

Junior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been named by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a finalist for the NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Golf.com. The Nicklaus Award recognizes the top players at the Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA levels.

Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf coach Dan Rodgers has been selected as a NCAA Division III finalist for the Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Friday afternoon. The Williams Award honors the men's national coach of the year in NCAA Division III men’s golf. This honor comes shortly after Rodgers was named Women’s Division III Coach of the Year.

Junior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team repeats as University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year, as voted on by the association coaches. Freshman Raymond Li (Del Mar, Calif.) was named UAA Rookie of the Year while junior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) joined the two on the All-UAA squad.

Junior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team repeats as a NCAA Division III PING First Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Freshman Raymond Li (Del Mar, Calif.) and junior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) also garnered All-America honors with Raymond Li landing a spot on the third team and Folker receiving honorable mention status. The three receiving the honor is the first time multiple golfers have received All-America in one season.

Four Men’s Golfers Named PING Mid-Atlantic All-Region

Four Carnegie Mellon University men’s golfers have been recognized for their play on the course this season by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Juniors Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) and Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) along with sophomore Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell) and freshman Raymond Li (Del Mar, Calif.) were named to the 2020 PING Mid-Atlantic Region team. The four receiving the honors marks the most regional distinctions for the program in one season. In 2015 and 2016, the Tartans had three members garner the accolade.
