Tartans Tied for Sixth After First Day of NCAA D-III Preview

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the opening day of the 2019 NCAA Division III Preview held at the par-72, 6,902-yard PGA National Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The 54-hole event is being hosted by Emory University. The Tartans currently are tied for sixth place in a field of 18 teams after carding a 36-hole score of 609 on Saturday. The Cardinal and Gray opened play with a 316 and then followed with a round of 293 in the afternoon.

Leading the field is defending national champion Illinois Wesleyan University with a 587 (296-291). University Athletic Association counterpart Emory is in second with a 589 (302-287).

Junior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) is tied for seventh individually in a field of 90 golfers after carding 36-hole score of one-under par 146. The sophomore opened play with a 78 before carding a four-under par 68 in round two.

Sophomore Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell) sit six strokes behind Li with a 152 (79-73) followed by freshman Raymond Li (Del Mar, Calif.) who opened his collegiate career with an 80 and the fired a one-over par 73 in round two for a 36-hole score of 153.

Junior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) carded back-to-back rounds of 79 for a 158 and freshman Joshua Braverman (Naples, Fla./Community School of Naples) carded a 164 (85-79)

The third and final round will be held on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
