Tartans Place Sixth at NCAA Fall Preview

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the final round of the 54-hole 2019 NCAA Division III Preview held at the par-72, 6,902-yard PGA National Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, hosted by Emory University. The Tartans carded a 299 during Sunday's round to finish sixth in a field of 18 teams with a 908 (316-293-299).

Emory University won the event with an 873 (302-287-284) while defending national champion Illinois Wesleyan University placed second with an 881 followed by Huntingdon College with an 891. St. Thomas University finished fourth after carding an 898 and Washington & Lee University shot a 907 for fifth.

Junior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) led the Tartans with a three round score of 222 (78-68-76) after entering the clubhouse Sunday with a four-over par 76. The junior finished 13th individually in a field of 90 golfers.

Freshman Raymond Li (Del Mar, Calif.) carded an even par 72 in the final round and finished with a 225 (80-73-72). His score placed him tied for 17th. Sophomore Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell) was three strokes behind Li with a 228 (79-73-76).

Junior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) carded his third straight round of 79 Sunday for a 54-hole score of 237. Freshman Joshua Braverman (Naples, Fla./Community School of Naples) entered the clubhouse on Sunday with his best round of the event of a three-over par 75. The freshman finished with a 239 (85-79-75).

Carnegie Mellon will next compete at the Gordin Invitational held at the Columbus Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, on September 30 and October 1.
