Tartans in Eighth After Day One at Golfweek DIII Fall Invite

(MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the opening day of the 2019 Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational held at the par 71, 6,725-yard Raven Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida, on Sunday. The Tartans are currently eighth in the three-day, 54-hole tournament out of 18 teams after carding an 18-hole score of three-over par 287.

Currently leading the tournament is defending team champion Emory after firing a 4-under par 280. Rob Wuethrich of Illinois Wesleyan currently leads the field for the individual title after round one with a 7-under par 64, two strokes ahead of his fellow teammate Skylar Le Vine.

Juniors Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) and Jay Milch (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) led the Tartans, with Li making five birdies on his way to firing a two-under par 69 and Milch making four birdies en route to a one-under par 70, tying his collegiate best round. Li and Milch both sit in a tie for ninth and 14th individually out of a field of 90 players.

Sophomore Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell) fired a 73 while freshman Brian Li (Beijing, China/Blair Academy) shot a 75 and sophomore William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) ended play on Sunday with a 79.

The second round is set for Monday morning at 7:30 am.
