Li Claims Individual Medalist at Golfweek DIII Spring Invite; Tartans Finish Fourth

(HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.) – Senior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team claimed individual medalist honors at the 54-hole 2021 Golfweek DIII Spring Invitational. The Tartans placed four in the 12-team field with a 900 (299-308-293). The event was played at the par-72, 6,755-yard El Campeón Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

It marked Li's first collegiate medalist honor, as he shot a two-under par 214 (69-75-70). The junior led the 60-player field with 14 birdies throughout the 54-hole event. Junior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) tied for 11th individually with a 223 (75-72-76).

Senior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and junior Henry Scavone (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm) both opened the round Sunday with an eagle on hole one. Folker ended the third round carding his best of the 54-hole event with an even par 72. He shot a 233 (76-85-72) for the event. Scavone fired one-stroke better than Folker for the invitational and shot a 232 (80-76-76). Senor Ben Huber (Hampton, Pa./Hampton) shot his best round on Sunday, three-over par 75, and ended with a 239 (79-85-75).

The Tartans will close their regular season at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on April 12-13.
