Three Tartans Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars; Team Earns 11th Straight Academic Honor

Three members of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team have been named Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Seniors Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) repeat as honorees and are joined by sophomore Brian Xu (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines) for their play on the course and in the classroom.

Senior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been named by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a finalist for the NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award. The Nicklaus Award recognizes the top players at the Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA levels.

Seniors Justin Britton (Falls Church, Va. / George Mason) and William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large Team for 2022. The honor is the third for Britton while Knauth is a repeat honoree from last year.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team finished sixth at the 2022 NCAA Division III Championship on Friday with a score of 1,196 (+48) over four rounds of play. The 72-hole championship event was played on the par-72, 6,744-yard El Campeón Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team continued play at the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships Thursday carding a 304 on the par-72, 6,744-yard El Campeón Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Tartans have a 54-hole score of 891 (+31) and are in fifth heading into the final round on Friday morning with Methodist University leading the championship with an 873 (+13).

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the second round of the 2022 NCAA Division III Championship Wednesday afternoon at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Tartans carded a 299 as a team on the par-71, 6,792-yard Las Colinas Course and have a 36-hole score of 587 (+15) which places them second in a field of 43 teams and advances them to rounds three and four of the championship event. Following play on Wednesday, the field was cut to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on one of those teams. Methodist University leads the championship with a 581.

Senior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team has been named University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year, as voted on by the association coaches. Li, also a first-team selection, is joined by senior Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) who garnered second team accolades. The Tartan coach staff, under the direction of Dan Rodgers along with assistant coach Colleen Myers were named UAA Coaching Staff of the Year.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team opened play in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Division III Championship on Tuesday. The Tartans fired a team score of even par 288 on the par-72, 6,744-yard El Campeón Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Tartans currently lead the 43-team field after 18 holes and are three strokes ahead of second-place Huntingdon College which shot a three-over 287 on the par-71, 6,792-yard Las Colinas Course.

Three Carnegie Mellon University men's golfers have been recognized for their play on the course this season by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) at its annual awards dinner on Monday in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida. Seniors William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) and Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) along with freshman Justin Chan (London, United Kingdom) were named to the 2022 PING Region 5 team.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been selected to compete in the 2022 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship. The championship will be held May 10-13 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, on the El Campeón Course and Las Colinas Course. Oglethorpe University and Greater Orlando Sports Commission will be hosting the four-day event.

Senior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team claimed individual medalist honors at the shortened 36-hole Division III Showcase in French Lick, Indiana, on The Donald Ross Course at French Lick par-70 course. The two-day event was hosted by Hanover College and was made a two-round tournament following inclement weather Monday which allowed only 18 holes to be played. The Tartans tied with Kenyon College for the top team finish in the 20-team event with a 574 (287-287) but the Lords were awarded the title base on the fifth-player dropped score.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team opened play at the Division III Showcase on Monday. Due to weather the tournament has been shortened to 36 holes after only being able to complete 18 Monday. The Cardinal and Gray currently are leading the 20-team field after posting a round of seven-over par 287 on the par-70 course. The event is hosted by Hanover College and is being played at The Donald Ross Course at French Lick in French Lick, Indiana.
