Knauth Leads Tartans During Second Round of NCAA D-III Preview

(HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team carded a 294 during the second round of the 2021 NCAA Division III Preview on Monday. The Tartans are in sixth in the 24-team event with a 36-hole score of 581 (287-294). The 54-hole event is being held at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida with play on Monday on the par-72, 6,750-yard El Campeón Course.

Senior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) is tied for ninth individually in a field of 122 golfers with a 36-hole score of 143. The senior fired one-under par 71 on Monday after carding even par 72 in the opening round. Senior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) sits a stroke back of Knauth with a 144 (66-78) with freshman Justin Chan (London, United Kingdom) entering the final round with a 147 (74-73) after entering the clubhouse with a one-over par 73 Monday.

Senior Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) shot two-over par 74 and has a 149 (75-74), as sophomore Brian Xu (San Diego, Calif. / Torrey Pines) has a 36-hole score of 154 (78-76).

The final round will be played Tuesday on the par-72, 6,750-yard El Campeón Course at 8:00 a.m.
