Knauth Claims Individual Medalist at Division III Showcase

(FRENCH LICK, Ind.) - Senior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team claimed individual medalist honors at the shortened 36-hole Division III Showcase in French Lick, Indiana, on The Donald Ross Course at French Lick par-70 course. The two-day event was hosted by Hanover College and was made a two-round tournament following inclement weather Monday which allowed only 18 holes to be played. The Tartans tied with Kenyon College for the top team finish in the 20-team event with a 574 (287-287) but the Lords were awarded the title base on the fifth-player dropped score.

Knauth, who recorded his second collegiate medalist honor, tied the school record for the lowest 36-hole tournament score with a 137 (70-67). The senior tabbed his 15th round this season of even par or under with a three-under 67 Tuesday.

Senior Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) and freshman Justin Chan (London, United Kingdom) both ended the 36-hole event with a 144. Lim posted a round of 73 on Tuesday with Chan carding a one-over par 71.

Senior Henry Scavone (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm) shot a 149 (73-76) with senior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) ending play with a 155 (77-78).
