(MUSCLE SHORES, Ala.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team opened play at The Visit Florence Intercollegiate on Monday. Following 36 holes of the 54-hole event, the Tartans are third after carding rounds of 295 and 290 for a 585.

How it Happened:

  • Junior Brian Xu led the Tartans over the first two rounds after carding an opening round even par 72 and then followed with a collegiate-low round of four-under par 68 for a 140 (72-68). He is tied for second individually in a field of 96 golfers.
  • Sophomore Justin Chan carded a three-over par 75 to start play on Monday and then entered the clubhouse with a one-over par 73 for round two and has a 36-hole score of 148.
  • Graduate student Henry Scavone shot a three-over par 75 in round one before improving a stroke in the second round carding a two-over par 74 for a 149.
  • Freshman David Zhang fired rounds of 77 and three-over par 75 for a 152.
  • Freshman Andrew Wang opened play with a one-over par 73 and then followed with an 84 for a 157 (73-84).
  • The Tartans had one individual compete in the intercollegiate, as freshman Jay Saluja carded a collegiate-low round of one-over par 73 to begin play and then shot a two-over par 74 for a 147.
