(NICHOLASVILLE, Ky.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed carded a 294 in the third round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday in Nicholasville, Kentucky. The Tartans have a 54-hole score of 872 (292-285-295) and are tied for fourth in a field of 43 teams heading into the final round of play.

How it Happened:

  • Freshman David Zhang fired a collegiate-low round of five-under par 67 in the third round to lead the Tartans on Thursday. The freshman will enter the final round tied for fourth individually with a two-under par 214 (73-74-67).
  • Sophomore Justin Chan fired a three-over par 75 and is tied for 11th individually with a 217 (72-70-75).
  • Graduate student Henry Scavone will enter the final round two strokes behind Chan with a 219 (73-67-79).
  • Junior Brian Xu carded his third straight round of two-over par 74 and has a 54-hole score of 222 (74-74-74).
  • Heading into the final round freshman Andrew Wang sits at 228 (75-74-79).
