Tartans Rebound with 1-0 Win at Elizabethtown

(ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.) - The 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team rebounded from a tough double overtime loss Saturday with a 1-0 victory on Sunday, September 8 at Elizabethtown College. The Tartans are now 3-1 on the season as Elizabethtown drops to 1-2-1.

The Tartans peppered the Blue Jays net in the first period with nine shots and were finally able to score the eventual game winner in the 42nd minute when senior Jerome Reano (Albuquerque, N.M./Saint Pius X) picked off a pass and beat Rodrigo Barrera to his left side. The goal was Reano's first career score.

Junior keeper Jacob Rice (Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) had to make one save in the period and later made a save in the second period to record his second shutout of the season.

Senior Max Tassano (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) was unlucky for the day, missing on nine shot attempts while Reano and senior Chris Wysocki (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) each recorded three shots.

The Tartans return home for their next contest on Wednesday evening against Geneva College at 7:00 p.m.
