Jameson Records First Career Goal in 4-0 Win at Bethany

(BETHANY, W.Va.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team recorded its second shutout of the year in a dominant performance at Bethany College on Saturday, September 20. Behind 28 shots, the Tartans won 4-0 to move to 5-3 on the season.

Freshman Jimmy Jameson (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) got the scoring started at the end of the 11th minute when he collected a rebound off a blocked shot and finished a one-v-one with the keeper from five yards for his first career tally.

About nine minutes later, sophomore Tristan Lockwood (Victor, N.Y./Victor) added to the score with his first goal of the season. Lockwood finished off a cross from senior Scott Gerfen (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) who also picked up an assist in the second half.

Junior Connor Webb (Dallas, Texas/J.J. Pearce) scored for the fourth straight game as he rocked a shot from 20 yards outs to the lower left past Bison keeper Riley Harrison in the 29th minute.

The final tally for the Tartans came in the 58th minute when junior Dimitrije Slavkovic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) finished a header off a cross from Gerfen. The goal marked Slavkovic's fourth of the year.

In goal, senior Jacob Rice (Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) earned the win as he split time with junior Eric Bykowsky (Columbia, S.C./Irmo) who made one save.

Playing for the second time this season, junior Ben Alderoty (Rumson, N.J. / Rumson-Fair Haven Regional) took five shots, putting two on frame while senior Louis Ferragonio (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) put both of his shots on net but were stopped by Harrison.

The Tartans will rest before traveling to Grove City College on Saturday, September 27 for a 3:00 p.m. match.
