Webb Earns Second UAA Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Connor Webb (Dallas, Texas/J.J. Pearce) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week after helping to lead the Tartans to a 1-1 weekend on the road in UAA play.

Webb added to his UAA leading goals scored total of 10 with two goals over the weekend. The midfielder scored both goals in the team's 2-1 win at New York University (NYU) on Sunday after the team fell 1-0 at No. 7 Brandeis University on Friday evening in its third straight double-overtime game.

Webb's first tally against NYU came off his own corner kick when his in-swinger deflected off the keepers' hands for the Tartans' 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. He then broke a 1-1 tie in the 62nd minute when he knocked in the rebound off his own penalty kick. Against Brandeis, Webb tallied two shots including one that was saved in the 98th minute.

At the mid-way point of the conference season, the Tartans are tied for third in the standings with Case Western Reserve University with a 2-1-1 record.

The Tartans have a three-game home stand to finish the season, starting with a UAA match against Case Western Reserve on Friday, October 31. Game time is set to start at 5:00 p.m.
