Dasbach Nets Three in Tartans Shutout of Allegheny

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) - Senior forward Stefan Dasbach (Philadelphia, Pa./Wissahickon) had a career performance for the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team on Tuesday, September 29 as he recorded three goals in the team's 3-0 win at Allegheny College. The Tartans improve to 7-1-1 and begin University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Saturday, October 3.

The first score of the game came in the 13th minute when Dasbach used his head to finish a cross from the left side by freshman Philip Petrakian (Redwood City, Calif./Sacred Heart Preparatory).

Allegheny nearly tied the match in the 22nd minute but Scott Powell's shot hit the crossbar. A counter attack by the Tartans resulted in a saved shot for keeper Jake Pugliese but he wasn't able to corral the attempt by senior William Webb (Dallas, Texas/J.J. Pearce) and Dasbach was there to finish the ball for his second score of the game.

The Gators put their first and only shot on frame in the 36th minute but senior Eric Bykowsky (Columbia, S.C./Irmo) was there to make the save.

The second half saw the Tartans take five additional shots on goal before Dasbach found the back of the net for his third goal of the game and fifth of the season in the 83rd minute. This time, Dasbach tapped in a cross from freshman Zack Masciopinto (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove).

"It is always great to get a result on the road," said head coach Brandon Bowman. "Tonight started with our defense. We stayed focused for 90 minutes and limited their chances."

The Tartans will next face eighth-ranked Brandeis University (8-1) on Saturday, October 3 in Waltham, Massachusetts, at 1:00 p.m.
