Fatschel Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

(AUSTIN, Texas) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Andreas Fatschel (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) has been named to the 2015 Academic All-America Division III Men's Soccer team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Fatshel becomes the 17th Carnegie Mellon men's soccer player to receive the honor.

Fatschel is a two-year starter at defensive back for the Tartans and served as a captain for this year's team that finished with an 11-4-3 record and a trip to the 2015 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. He was part of a back line that helped contribute to seven team shutouts. Last season, Fatshel was honored on the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Honorable Mention team.

Fatshcel is a mechanical and biomedical engineering major with a 3.95 GPA. He has been a research assistant at the University of Pittsburgh, Johns Hopkins University and Carnegie Mellon. He also serves as an academic counselor and participated in the emerging leaders program. A member of the mechanical engineering honor society, Fatshcel volunteers with Team IMPACT and his church by collecting clothing for the needy.
