Fatschel and Masciopinto Named ECAC South All-Stars

(DANBURY, Conn.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team had two players selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Men's Soccer Division III South All-Star Team as announced by the ECAC on Wednesday, November 30. Senior Andreas Fatschel (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) and sophomore Zack Masciopinto (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) were two of 11 players honored in the South Region.

Fatschel was a constant presence on defense for the Tartans as he directed the team from his center back position. The team surrendered 15 goals for the season with a goals against average of 0.77 and nine shutouts with a sophomore and freshman splitting time in net.

Masciopinto led the Tartans and the University Athletic Association (UAA) with 13 goals scored and eight against league opponents. He registered three multi-goal games, all in UAA play. Seven of his goals were game winners.

The ECAC honor marks the first for both players.
