Men's Soccer Impacts Local School by Teaching Soccer and Importance of Education

This past spring, the Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team had the pleasure of partnering with Justin Forzano and Pittsburgh Soccer in the Community to launch yet another successful community service project. Throughout the semester the team worked closely with Arsenal Middle School, one of the many local public schools in the area, helping run their youth soccer team’s practices once or twice a week, over the course of roughly six weeks. Six or seven of the varsity players not only helped run the practices but also participated and challenged the Arsenal students with some solid competition.

Jameson was also honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) on the newly formatted ECAC Division III Men’s Soccer Team.

Four Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer players were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Thursday, November 9 for their play throughout the 2017 season in which the team finished 10-4-3 with a 2-3-2 showing in the league. Senior Jimmy Jameson (Fairfax, Va. / Oakton) and junior Zack Masciopinto (Arlington Heights, Ill. / Buffalo Grove) both were named to the All-Association First Team with juniors Greg Bellwoar (Devon, Pa. / St. Joe's Prep) and Philip Petrakian (Redwood City, Calif. / Sacred Heart Preparatory) named to the second team.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team closed the regular season on the road at Case Western Reserve University Saturday evening. Despite scoring first for the 14th time this season, the Tartans fell 2-1 to the Spartans in University Athletic Association (UAA) action. The Tartans close at 10-4-3 and 2-3-2 while the Spartans finish the year at 7-9-2 and 3-4.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team recorded its second tie of a University Athletic Association (UAA) home weekend when it finished 110 minutes of action with a 1-1 score against the University of Rochester on Sunday, October 29. The Tartans are now 10-3-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the UAA while the Yellowjackets are 11-2-3 and 4-1-1.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team hosted Emory University on Friday, October 27 in University Athletic Association (UAA) action and closed the game with a 2-2 draw to move to 10-3-2 on the year and 2-2-1 in the UAA. The Eagles are now 11-4-1 and 3-1-1.
